Red Bull Ring

MotoGP's layout here is NOT the same as F1's: a safety chicane (the Münzer Schikane) was added at Turn 2 in 2022 after a high-speed Zarco/Morbidelli crash, making the MotoGP lap 4.348km against F1's 4.326km. From the start/finish straight the track climbs sharply into Niki Lauda Kurve (Turn 1), then drops through the chicane and a 65m overall elevation swing — short and punchy rather than flowing. The circuit's short lap length by modern standards means the field passes any given grandstand more often per session than at longer venues, a detail regular attendees rate highly.

The lap

The lap, drawn from the official circuit diagram and simplified to 56 points. This is the shape of the circuit; the length and corner count in the strip above are the published figures, hand-checked against the circuit’s own specifications.

This is the same physical circuit as our Red Bull Ring F1 guide — same layout, same grandstands, different championship and a different weekend on the calendar.

What a ticket here actually gets you

Zone and stand structure, checked 31 Jul 2026. No prices — those move, and we do not publish one until it has been checked and dated.

What a Red Bull Ring weekend actually costs

Seats we could actually find on sale at Red Bull Ring ran from €89 up to €280 (general admission through to the priciest grandstand, not counting hospitality or Paddock Club) — checked 31 Jul 2026. Ticket prices move constantly and this is not every seat at the circuit, so treat it as a rough budget, not a quote. A typical return flight from a mid-priced European hub, booked around two months out, runs about €180 a person; add roughly €225 a person for three nights in a mid-range hotel over the race weekend. These are grounded, dated estimates, not live quotes.

Getting there

Vienna, Salzburg, Linz and Graz airports all serve the circuit via rail to Knittelfeld station, from where a free shuttle bus runs roughly every 20 minutes on event days. The Steiermark region around the circuit is genuinely mountainous, and the surrounding towns run their own fan events alongside the on-track sessions rather than leaving the atmosphere to the circuit alone. and the region's ski-resort infrastructure outside race season means accommodation capacity nearby is higher than the area's population alone would suggest.

Where to sit

Named zones include Steiermark, T3 (the circuit's slowest corner and main overtaking spot), Schönberg, Nord and Red Bull grandstands. The Green Zone general-admission hill sits on the high ground between T3 and the North stand. The T10 stand covers the final corner onto the pit straight, and Start-Ziel sits directly opposite the grid on the pit straight itself — between them, the three Steiermark grandstand blocks run the full length of the climb down to Turn 3. The Schönberg stand, on the outside of the fast opening sequence, and the Nord grandstand at Turn 4 fill out the remaining named sections between the start and the T10 run to the line.
