Assen
Known as “the Cathedral of Speed,” Assen is the only circuit that has hosted a round of the world championship every year since it began in 1949 (bar 2020). Eighteen corners, a mix of fast flowing sections and a distinctive final chicane, on flat Dutch countryside. The circuit's flowing character has made it a long-standing favourite among riders for raw feel, distinct from the stop-start layouts common elsewhere on the calendar.

What a Assen weekend actually costs
Seats we could actually find on sale at Assen ran from €132 up to €226 (general admission through to the priciest grandstand, not counting hospitality or Paddock Club) — checked 3 Aug 2026. Ticket prices move constantly and this is not every seat at the circuit, so treat it as a rough budget, not a quote. A typical return flight from a mid-priced European hub, booked around two months out, runs about €230 a person; add roughly €500 a person for three nights in a mid-range hotel over the race weekend. These are grounded, dated estimates, not live quotes.

Getting there
Assen is a small city in the northern Netherlands, reachable by direct train from Amsterdam (around 1h45), then a short bus or bike ride out to the circuit — the whole town turns into the event during TT week. TT week is as much a town festival as a race weekend — campsites fill the fields around the circuit, and Assen's own centre runs a fan programme alongside the on-track sessions.
Where to sit
The Strubben grandstand looks back over most of the lap from the end of the main straight. The Ossebroeken grandstand sits at a hairpin and sees plenty of overtaking attempts into the corner. Beyond those two, Haarbocht and its Annexe both look directly onto Turn 1, the first passing chance after the drop from the pit straight. Stekkenwal and Mandeveen run down the back of the lap through the Turns 15-18 sequence, and the Geert Timmer stand covers the final S-bend riders take before rejoining the pit straight — De Bult, the natural amphitheatre banking that gives the venue its “Cathedral” nickname, sits opposite the main grandstand across the front straight.
