Formula 1 at Sepang

The Sepang International Circuit, situated around 60km south of Malaysian capital city Kuala Lumpur, was one of the first Grand Prix venues to be created by renowned designer Hermann Tilke. With its long straights and flowing high speed corners, the track is certainly a popular one amongst drivers, even if the baking temperatures provide them with their biggest workout of the season. And judging by the 15 previous races held at the circuit, many of which have been hit by short, snappy rain showers, you are in for a treat as a spectator.

Accommodation and transport

The city of Kuala Lumpur is the most popular ‘home from home’ when attending the Malaysian Grand Prix, with hundreds of hotels – catering for all needs – to choose from. Surplus to accommodation, there are bars and restaurants aplenty within the city, while activities such as bungee jumping and rainforest tours will keep you busy away from the track. Getting to the circuit itself, KLIA Transit offers a high-speed train service from the central station, avoiding the risk of traffic. There is also a direct bus service operated by SkyBus, while taxis and rental cars remain viable options.

Popular Sepang tickets

Sepang offers a variety of grandstand and general admission options, ensuring that all needs are catered for. If you are hoping for a view of the pit lane and start grid, the Diamond, Sapphire and Emerald grandstands are extremely popular amongst fans, with a roof to protect you from the elements and large television screens situated in close proximity. K1, located on the exit of the first corner, is also a common choice, while non-covered hillstand seats allow you to watch the action for an extremely low fee.
