The Korean International Circuit is located near the town of Mokpo in Yeongam County, province South Jeolla of South-Korea. It is on a 400 km distance of Seoul. As of 2010, the circuit hosts the Formula 1 Korean Grand Prix. It has a length of 5,621 km and 17 turns. It is designed by Hermann Tilke and built by Korea Auto Valley in 2009. A 7-year contract is signed between Bernie Ecclestone and Korea Auto Valley Operation for the Korean International Circuit to host the Korean Grand Prix.
The circuit consists of a permanent and a temporary part. The temporary part runs alongside the harbor of province South Jeolla. Spectators can see the race from the promenade, hotels and yachts. Part of the city with shops and restaurants will be used as a pit area during the Korean Grand Prix.
