History of Silverstone
Silverstone is viewed by many as the home of motorsport, having hosted the first ever Grand Prix back in 1950. Once an airfield and now a world-leading Formula 1 venue, it is also a favourite with the drivers, possessing both high speed corners and a selection of overtaking opportunities thanks to the recently-added infield section.
Getting to the circuit
Silverstone is one of the most fan-friendly races on the Formula 1 calendar, with easy access to the circuit from camping sites and plenty of improved car parking areas following the heavy rain in 2012. If you wish to arrive at the circuit via public transport, two park & ride areas have been chosen for the 2013 event: the Sixfields Stadium (M1) and Hinton in the Hedges Airfield (M40). Tickets come in at £10 for three days, or £5 for one day.
Popular Formula 1 tickets for Silverstone
Following a series of adjustments for the 2011 season, Silverstone now offers an even wider selection of impressive vantage points. Popular among fans on an annual basis are the Abbey and Farm grandstands, with views of the pit lane and first corner combined. If you wish to see a Formula 1 car running wild at full speed, Becketts is a prime location.
