History of the Nürburgring
The Nürburgring is one of the sport’s most historic circuits. Opened back in 1927, Grand Prix racing initially took place on the much longer 22.8km Nordschleife. Nowadays, a tamer 5.1km GP circuit plays host to the action, featuring a mixture of high speed and technical sections.
Accommodation and transport
Most Formula 1 fans stay in the city of Koblenz during the Grand Prix weekend. There are more than 30 hotels in the city, which is around a 45 minute drive from the circuit. Cologne, around a 75 minute drive from the venue, is also a popular location, offering more nightlife and activities.
Popular Formula 1 tickets for the Nürburgring
The Nürburgring offers a range of spectacular views, with sweeping curves and plenty of undulation changes. Grandstands 4 and 4a, situated at the first corner, provide a wonderful vantage point as the cars attack the first sector of the lap. This area is even more impressive when the five red lights go out on Sunday afternoon. Grandstands 6-9, located at the hairpin, are also popular choices.
