Yas Marina circuit description
The Yas Marina Circuit is located on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. It is a rather young circuit and the only one in Abu Dhabi. The Abu Dhabi F1 circuit is designed by Hermann Tilke and has a length of 5,554 km and 21 turns. It is sometimes referred to as the Arabian Monaco and is the venue for the Abu Dhabi F1 Grand Prix. Circuit Yas Marina has a few long straights and tight curves. It offers great overtaking opportunities included the longest long straight, between turn 7 and 8, on the Formula 1 calendar. The asphalt is highly praised by circuit owners because of the great grip it offers. The same asphalt has been used at Bahrain International Circuit.
Yas Island is an artificial island near Abu Dhabi. The expenses of its built were added up to the total expenses of the Yas Marina Circuit, which makes it the most expensive circuit ever built. Included in the total costs of USD 1 billion are also the costs for the permanent lighting provided by Musco Lighting. The same system is used for the Losail International circuit in Qatar. Circuit Yas Marina now has the biggest permanent lighting system in the world.
Region
The Yas Marina F1 Circuit is part of a development which includes a theme park (Ferrari World), a water park, hotels and beaches. You can see the famous Yas Hotel or relax on one of the beaches. But if you choose to really explore the UAE during your Abu Dhabi F1 weekend, you can spend a day in Abu Dhabi itself.
Dubai is one of the fastest growing cities in the world with the most expensive projects ever built. You can see Palm Island or the Burj al Arab Hotel (also known as Dubai Hotel). You can also visit the Grand Mosque or Jumeira Mosque. We recommend you to visit Bastakiya. This an old city quarter where you can still see the traditional Arab houses. It is near the Dubai Museum that you can also visit while you are there. And for a real unforgettable experience you can visit the Oasis with their beautiful houses and gardens.
