Last season info Monza Italy
Fernando Alonso has won the Italian F1 Grand Prix for Ferrari at circuit Monza. It was his third win of the 2010 season as he overtook leader Jenson Button at the pit stops. Button finished behind him with Felipe Massa completing the podium. The 2010 Italian Grand Prix was the 16th time Formula 1 has raced at circuit Monza. Button had a strong getaway at the start as he pulled alongside Alonso. He maintained this position throughout most of the race despite of great pressure from Alonso. Ultimately, Alonso proved to be the fastest one by closing the gap and taking the lead from Button after a faster pit stop; McLaren chose to call in Button one lap before Alonso which seemed to be the wrong decision afterwards. Though Mark Webber finished sixth, he is now leading the Championship as Lewis Hamilton had to retire after a collision with Massa on the first lap.

Historic info Monza Italy History
The Italian GP is one of the longest running events on the motor racing calendar. The first Italian Grand Prix motor racing championship took place on 1921 at Brescia. However, the race is more closely associated with the course at Monza, which was built in 1922 in time for that year's race.
The Italian Grand Prix was one of the inaugural Formula One championship races in 1950, and has been held every year since then. The only other championship race for which this is true is the British Grand Prix.
