Monza Italy circuit description
The Monza circuit, originally named the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza, is located near the town of Monza in Italy and known for the Italian F1 Grand Prix. Built in 1922 in only 100 days by the Automobile Club of Milan, Monza is Europe´s oldest permanent circuit still in use. Set in a former Royal park on the outskirts of Milan, Italy´s second major city, the contemporary circuit is still one of the fastest in Europe being a series of long, straight flat-out blasts and long high-speed corners, interrupted only by the inevitable chicanes.
The major features of Autodromo Nazionale di Monza are the Curva di Lesmo, the Curva Parabolica and the Variante Ascari. Also the Curva Grande is famous for being a high speed curve located after a slow corner. The highest speeds are reached on this track, due to its long straights. The track is known for being the scene where remarkable speed records are being set, sometimes up to 372 km/h. Having only 3 proper corners, Monza gives the full opportunity to run on full throttle.
On this track it is not all about speed though, but also techniques matter. It is a flat circuit, but does have a notable gradient from the 2nd Lesmos to the Variante Ascari. The vehicles need a very aerodynamic profile on the Monza circuit which results in down force and lower grip.
Region
Monza is a small town nearby Milaan. It has to thank his publicity to the Autodromo Nazionale circuit with the Formula 1 Grand Prix as biggest event. With your Monza F1 ticket you can visit the church of Santa Maria in Strada who has a rich terra-cotta facade of 1393 and the memorial Cappella Espiatoria, built in 1900 in memory of the assassinated King Umberto I of Italy, are one of the many historic things to visit.
