Marina Bay circuit description
The Marina Bay Street Circuit is a Singapore Street Circuit around the Marina Bay. It is also known as the Marina Bay Circuit and is the venue for the Singapore Formula 1 Grand Prix. The original design for the circuit was proposed by Hermann Tilke but modified by KBR Inc. which was ultimately responsible for the built. The Marina Bay Street Circuit has a length of 5,1 km with 23 corners.
The Singapore Street Circuit used to be criticized a lot by drivers such as Fernando Alonso, Sebastien Bourdais and Lewis Hamilton for having an excessively bumpy surface and a too high chicane at Turn 10. In answer to this, FIA race director and safety delegate Charlie Whiting ordered the chicane at turn 10 to be modified.
The track layout is unique between turns 18 and 19 where the cars race underneath a section of grandstands of the Floating Platform.
